Presidential search open meetings will be held for Cornell students, faculty and staff in Ithaca, Aug. 30, and in New York City, Sept. 7

Cornell's Presidential Search Committee, which has been charged with conducting a search for the university's next president, will hold open meetings in the coming days to receive input from the campus community.

To assist the search committee in gathering input and advice from the various campus constituencies, several subcommittees have been formed, said Diana Daniels, vice chair of the Cornell Board of Trustees and chair of the Presidential Search Committee. These subcommittees will be holding open meetings for faculty, staff and students on campus in Ithaca and at the Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City.

The following open meetings have been scheduled:

Tuesday, Aug. 30:

  • The open meeting for students in Ithaca is from 4:30-6:30 p.m. in the Large Conference Room of the Biotechnology Building.
  • The open meeting for faculty in Ithaca is from 4:30 to 6 p.m. in Hollis Cornell Auditorium of Goldwin Smith Hall.
  • The open meeting for staff in Ithaca is from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Amphitheater of the Statler Hotel.

Wednesday, Sept. 7:

  • The open meeting for members of the Weill Cornell Medical College community is from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in Uris Auditorium at the medical college in New York City.

"These meetings are an important channel for receiving input from you as a constituent of the university," said Daniels in a letter to the Cornell community. "If you have thoughts to express to the search committee or would simply like to witness an important part of the search process as it occurs, please plan to attend."

Members of the Cornell community also are asked to send their written comments, recommendations and nominations to: Presidential Search Committee, P.O. Box 4380, Ithaca, N.Y. 14852-4380, or via e-mail to cu-pres-search@cornell.edu. To assure consideration in the process, the committee would like to hear from people no later than Sept. 11.
