Cornell News Service launches a new, more colorful Cornell Chronicle

Chronicle front page

Welcome to the new Cornell Chronicle.

With this issue, the Cornell Chronicle takes on a new design and a new look, including brighter, heavier newsprint and an easier-to-read typeface. This is the first major redesign of the Chronicle in two decades.

The Chronicle's redesign is the work of Wendy Kenigsberg, a designer with Cornell's Office of Publications and Marketing, and each issue of the Chronicle is put together by Robin Zifchock, editorial assistant at the Chronicle.

Much else also is new. Beginning today and in the coming weeks, the Chronicle will debut many new features, columns and coverage areas, including monthly FOCUS pages on alumni, on teaching and learning at Cornell and on the Cornell University Library. The FOCUS page on Weill Cornell Medical College, which began monthly publication in May, will continue, as will the ongoing series of in-depth Faculty Facets. Every issue will carry four pages of color pictures, including a photo spread in the center page and a photo essay on the back page. Readers also will notice that many photos are much larger than in the past.

Additional columns and features you will see on these pages include Innovations, a column on exploiting Cornell research; a column on Cornell's land-grant status in New York state; and more intense coverage of Cornell authors and books and new university Web sites.

The Chronicle's calendar has been redesigned, and in addition to the well-organized listings, you will find weekly highlights of future events.

We look forward to hearing feedback and additional ideas from readers. E-mail comments and suggestions to chronicle@cornell.edu.
