Faculty Work Life Survey begins

The Provost's Advisory Committee on Faculty Work Life is initiating a survey of faculty that will run from today, Sept. 15, through Oct. 24.

The advisory committee has been working with Provost Biddy Martin since last fall to examine the quality of tenured and tenure-track faculty's work life and working climate with the aim of developing initiatives to address any concerns. The group's primary focus is on the experiences of women faculty, but the study is not strictly a gender-equity study and looks to develop a broad understanding of faculty experiences.

A methodology subcommittee (Michael Jones-Correa, Amy Villarejo and Elaine Wethington) has developed the faculty survey with the Office of Institutional Research and Planning.

All tenured and tenure-track faculty members not in their first year at Cornell will receive e-mail-notification of the online survey by the end of the week. Responses to the survey will remain confidential.

For more information, or to request a hard copy of the survey, contact the Survey Research Institute at 255-3786 or e-mail surveyresearch@cornell.edu.
