The latest statistics on the 2006 entering freshman class at Cornell indicate a strong, smart and diverse group. With more than 30 percent of the Class of 2010 identifying themselves as "students of color," more than 85 percent from the top 10 percent of their high school graduating classes and more than 9 percent from other countries, the newest Cornellians are bright and wide ranging.

The numbers indicate Cornell's ongoing commitment to recruiting the best and the brightest, said Doris Davis, Cornell's associate provost for admissions and enrollment, and to maintaining a diverse campus population to ensure a well-rounded educational experience for all students.

"The class of 2010 looks great," said Davis. "The admission staff has done a perfect job in helping to attract and securing a wonderful mix of bright young people who we will be proud to welcome as freshmen."
