No road closures planned, but parking is limited for inauguration

There are no road closures planned during ceremonies surrounding the inauguration of David J. Skorton on Sept. 7. Weather permitting, participants will gather on Ho Plaza Thursday afternoon and then proceed to the Arts Quad for the Installation Ceremony.

However, parking -- even more so than usual -- will be at a premium. As a convenience for inaugural visitors, Cornell will provide free transportation between the Ithaca-Tompkins Regional Airport and Ithaca-area lodging facilities for guests attending the ceremony. Visitors with vehicles are strongly advised to take advantage of the free transportation.

Free parking will be available in B lot (south of the College of Veterinary Medicine complex, off Route 366) for visitors attending the inauguration. A free shuttle bus will run from B lot to Tower Road, East Avenue and Campus Road and back to B lot from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. People with mobility impairments who have received a special permit will have access to any handicapped parking spaces on campus except those reserved for specific members of the Cornell community.

Cornell's regular campus bus service also will be available at no charge. Visitors should inform bus drivers of their intention to attend the inauguration. Schedules are widely available on campus and on each bus.

Parking, transportation assistance and information is available at any of the parking and visitor information booths on campus or by calling the Inauguration Transportation Hot Line at (607) 254-8293 (in operation Sept. 6-8).
