Feminist Visualities speakers discuss future of feminist art

The Feminist Visualities conference, a two-day symposium on issues of gender and identity in art, concluded Feb. 3 at the A.D. White House at Cornell with a dialogue addressing the future of feminist art and education.

The event was hosted by Cornell as part of Rutgers University's Feminist Art Project, a national movement to celebrate and promote feminist art in contemporary and historical contexts. Featured artists and professors from such institutions as Cornell, Rutgers and Columbia College spoke about their art and displayed their work.

"We saw amazing work from nine women whose art practice just blew me away," said Renate Ferro, conference organizer and visiting assistant professor of art. "I think that the thing that really tied the conference together was the strength and the power of their artistic practice."
