Cornell to hold open houses Sept. 26 to discuss its Comprehensive Master Plan

Cornell's Comprehensive Master Plan (CMP) will provide a context for physical changes on campus over the next 25-plus years. To give the community an overview of the draft plan and an opportunity to provide feedback, Cornell will hold two open houses, Sept. 26: 11 a.m.-3 p.m. in the Memorial Room of Willard Straight Hall on campus, and 5-9 p.m. at Hilton Garden Inn, Seneca/Tioga Room, 130 E. Seneca St. in downtown Ithaca.

The plan is intended to realize the university's research, teaching and outreach missions and its residential, recreational and administrative priorities. Phase 2 of the CMP, which involved identifying the elements of a plan for future campus growth, has been completed. Phase 3 is currently under way, and a draft CMP has been developed.

Following community input and feedback from the open houses, the planners will develop the final plan to be approved by the Cornell Board of Trustees in March 2008.

Both open houses will begin with a 45-minute overview presentation (which will be repeated at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m.) and include a series of illustrated panels. The university's consultant team will make scheduled presentations during each session, although participants are welcome to drop in at any time to either open house. Members of the CMP Working Committee and the consultant team will be available to answer questions and receive feedback at all times during the open houses. Participants are also encouraged to give written feedback at the open houses. Refreshments will be provided.
