Open forum on Campus Code slated for Oct. 2

At the request of the University Assembly and President David Skorton, the Assemblies' Codes and Judicial Committee (CJC) has been working on revising the Campus Code of Conduct. The Committee plans to share the revised code with the community in October and solicit comments for review before making final recommendations to the UA in November.

The committee, particularly law professor Kevin Clermont, worked over the summer on revising the code after gathering comments last semester, at public forums and in writing, on revisions proposed by former Judicial Administrator Barbara Krause and on needed changes to the current code. The CJC delivered its initial recommendations in March to the UA and to Skorton, who has asked for revisions to be completed by December.

The CJC is drafting a letter to be delivered to the campus community, pointing out the proposed changes to the code. The CJC also plans to hold a public forum on the code Oct. 2 from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Willard Straight Hall Memorial Room.
