Nominations for 2008 A.D. White Professors-at-Large due Dec. 1

Members of the Cornell faculty are invited to nominate candidates to serve as A.D. White Professors-at-Large. Candidates, who are annually selected by the program's 13-member selection committee, with the final approval made by Cornell's president and board of trustees, are awarded a six-year at-large professorship.

The program encourages the nomination of women and underrepresented minorities.

Currently, Cornell has 18 Cornell A.D. White Professors-at-Large, including five who are new this year:

During their tenure, A.D. White Professors-at-Large make formal visits to campus, give lectures, teach classes, present outreach programs and work with students and faculty to enhance and augment the academic life and initiatives of the university.

The deadline for preproposal nominations is Dec. 1 and for full proposals, March 1, 2008. For more information, see http://adwhiteprofessors.cornell.edu/call.
