Something to sing about: Students<br />raise $2,400 for United Way

The Cornell student-led fundraiser "A Cappella United" hit all the right notes Oct. 12, raising about $2,400 in proceeds for the Cornell United Way. About 800 people attended the event and about 100 singers participated in all.

"This was just a huge success for us," said Jonathan Feldman '08, student representative on the United Way cabinet who coordinated the event. "It was a great event and we are really happy with the support of our fellow students."

The Bailey Hall concert featured the best of Cornell's a cappella groups, including Last Call, the Chordials, Class Notes, After 8, Cayuga's Waiters, the Hangovers, Hearsay, Nothing But Treble, Touchtones, Key Elements and Absolute, with a special appearance by Anything Goes, Cornell's original and oldest musical theater troupe.

The first week of the 2007 Cornell campaign ended Oct. 16 with pledges to date at $93,927; 13.4 percent of the $700,000 goal.
