Cold-weather clothing drive set to 'Share the Warmth'

Cornell and Ithaca-area communities can help others cope with the oncoming cold by contributing new and used clothing to the 15th annual "Share the Warmth" campaign through Dec. 2.

Clothing can be new or gently used outerwear (winter hats, mittens, gloves, coats, scarves, boots and snow pants) especially for children and can be dropped off at the following locations around campus: all undergraduate residence halls and community centers, all graduate housing service centers, Mann Library, Anabel Taylor Hall, East Hill Plaza, Vet College Medical Center, Carpenter Hall Engineering Library, Humphreys Service Building, Day Hall, Ives Hall, Martha Van Rensselaer Hall, Sibley Hall, Baker Lab and Willard Straight Hall.

"Share the Warmth is a vital part of our educational program to show students how they are connected to a larger community -- not just here on campus, but throughout the Ithaca area," explained LeNorman J. Strong, assistant vice president for student and academic services at Cornell. "It gives our faculty, staff and neighbors -- as well as our students -- a wonderful opportunity to help others by sharing our no-longer-needed cold weather clothing with those who may be less fortunate. It's a great way to participate in the university's mission of social responsibility and environmental stewardship while making an enduring contribution to the betterment of our community."
