Professor George L. Good dies unexpectedly at age 67

George L. Good, Cornell professor emeritus of ornamental horticulture, died unexpectedly, Dec. 24, at his home in Dryden, N.Y. He was 67.

Good was actively involved in teaching, advising students, conducting research and providing extension services. He served as department chair and as director of the Cornell Pesticide Management Education Program.

Born Dec. 14, 1940, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Good received his B.S. at Ohio State University and M.S. (1966) and Ph.D. (1969) degrees from Cornell. Shortly thereafter he started his lifelong career as a Cornell faculty member in the Department of Horticulture in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and was an active member of the New York State Arborists and New York State Nursery and Landscape Association.

Good loved spending time with family, living in the country, reading, learning about historic events, fishing, hunting, barbecuing and baking bread.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn McFall Good, two children and extended family. Funeral services were held Dec. 29.
