Paul Maza receives 2008 Teaching Excellence Award

Paul Maza, a lecturer in anatomy at Cornell's College of Veterinary Medicine, received the 2008 Teaching Excellence Award in Basic Science by the Student Chapter of the American Veterinary Medical Association (SAVMA). This year's recipients were announced March 21 at the SAVMA symposium at Tuskegee University and Auburn University in Alabama.

"Paul Maza is most deserving of this national SAVMA Teaching Excellence Award. Paul embodies the commitment to enthusiastic and innovative teaching in our professional curriculum," said Mark S. Roberson, chair of biomedical sciences and professor of physiology at Cornell. "Perhaps more importantly, Maza is an excellent mentor and role model to numerous veterinary students here at Cornell University."

Veterinary students from each university submit two nominees for the award, one in clinical science and another in basic science. Meg Varner '09 nominated Maza. For more information, visit http://www.avma.org/savma/.
