Cornell Chronicle, Chronicle Online and photographer reap national awards

The Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), which selects universities for awards in several areas of communications, alumni relations and fundraising, has awarded silver medals in this year's CASE Circle of Excellence competition to Chronicle Online and photographer Lindsay France. It also awarded a bronze medal for writing for the Cornell Chronicle/Chronicle Online.

Chronicle Online won its award in the Web-based or electronic HTML internal audience periodicals category from a pool of 13 entries; two silver medals were awarded. The Web site, which posts daily news from Cornell, is edited by Karen Walters, assistant director of the Office of the Cornell Chronicle, which is directed by David Brand.

France won her award in the photograph of the year category for her photograph of two women attending Cornell Reunion.

Cornell Chronicle/Chronicle Online was recognized in the periodical staff writing for internal audiences category from a pool of 14 entries. In addition to Brand and Walters, the staff of the Chronicle includes Daniel Aloi, Franklin Crawford, Lauren Gold, Anne Ju, Susan Lang, George Lowery, Krishna Ramanujan, Bill Steele and Joseph Wilensky.
