Law School convocation celebration

The Cornell Law School's 260 graduates attended their convocation ceremony in Bailey Hall May 11. At right, graduates Sili Fu, left, and Jie Zhang make last-minute adjustments before attending the ceremony.

The annual private event was hosted by Stewart J. Schwab, the Allan R. Tessler Dean and Professor of Law. The convocation address was delivered by John H. Blume, professor of law and director of Cornell's Death Penalty Clinic. Nina Winkler '08 spoke on behalf of the LL.M. students, and Michael H. Bornhorst '08 spoke on behalf of the J.D. students.

Following the speeches, John DeRosa, assistant dean for student services, called each graduate to the stage to receive Schwab's congratulations on behalf of the Law School and Cornell. The law degrees that will be conferred at the university's commencement ceremony May 25 include: Master of Laws; Doctor of Law; Juris Doctor; and combined degrees in International and Comparative Law, Global Business Law, and German and European Law and Legal Practice.
