Paul Curtis honored with extension's Award of Excellence

Paul Curtis, associate professor of natural resources, is the recipient of the 2007 Award of Excellence from the Northeast Extension Directors for leadership and innovation for his contributions to the Internet Center for Wildlife Damage Management. He received a plaque and $1,000 in support of his program, July 14, in Bethesda, Md.

Curtis has coordinated the Wildlife Damage Management Program for Cornell Cooperative Extension since 1990. The Internet Center for Wildlife Damage Management disseminates research-based information and practical approaches to wildlife damage management to homeowner and professional audiences. The effort is a multistate collaboration between extension specialists and staff at Cornell and three other land-grant universities: University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Clemson University and Utah State University.

"Paul Curtis and the members of his wildlife damage management team have done an outstanding job of providing the public a research- and evidence-based resource on the Internet. Paul and his team have created a user-friendly interface full of information that is relevant to the public, and county, state and federal agencies," said Helene Dillard, director of Cornell Cooperative Extension.
