CU community invited to submit nominations for provost

The Provost Search Committee is inviting members of the Cornell community to submit the names of outstanding individuals to serve as provost.

The new provost will succeed Carolyn (Biddy) Martin, who leaves Cornell Aug. 31 to become chancellor of the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Traditionally, the university has chosen a provost from the ranks of its senior faculty. Individuals may nominate themselves or be nominated by someone else. All nominees must hold a Cornell faculty appointment (as of July 1) at the rank of full professor. Nominations will be reviewed by the search committee, which consists of faculty, staff and student representatives, and should be submitted through the committee Web site at http://www.cornell.edu/provostsearch/.

Nominations will be accepted from Aug. 19 through Sept. 3.

Those submitting nominations must have a Cornell NetID and will be asked to provide some basic background information about the nominee; a statement explaining the person's qualifications for the position of provost; and, if possible, a link to the nominee's vita or Web page. A job description and candidate profile for the position is available online (PDF).

To submit a nomination, follow this link: http://www.cornell.edu/provostsearch/nominations.cfm.
