High-performance data analysis training offered

The Cornell Center for Advanced Computing (CAC) will present a two-day training class Oct. 23-24 in Cornell's Carpenter Library on performing data analyses on the "Ranger" supercomputer at the Texas Advanced Computing Center at the University of Texas at Austin.

The class is intended for researchers already familiar with the use of Ranger, but all Cornell researchers interested in data analysis are welcome to attend. The class will cover methods of analyzing and visualizing very large data sets and the use of TeraGrid's Science Gateways system for sharing data across the grid. To register and for more information, visit http://portal.teragrid.org/training.

Ranger, with a peak performance rating of 579.4 teraflops, is the largest high-performance computing resource on the National Science Foundation TeraGrid, a nationwide network of academic advanced computing centers that provides scientists and researchers access to large-scale computing power and resources. As a member of the Ranger team, CAC develops and delivers classroom and online training for Ranger users.
