Chris Barnes '09 selected by UWIRE 100 as a top journalist

Chris Barnes '09, an information science major who just graduated from Cornell's College of Arts and Sciences, was recently selected by UWIRE as one of the top 100 student journalists in the country.

Selected from more than 825 submitted by professionals, students and educators, Barnes joined the paper's news staff his freshman year, becoming a senior writer in fall 2006 and then served as Web editor for two years. Barnes also was the author of Optimized Queries, a weekly technology column in Red Letter Daze (formerly Eclipse), The Sun's weekend edition. Last summer, he interned at The New York Times, where he worked in the Interactive News Technology group, helping to produce several features, including the 2008 Election Guide and several features for the Beijing Olympics.

UWIRE is a free membership organization for college student media.
