Cornell Police earn top honors at NYS Law Enforcement Challenge

Cornell University Police earned top honors for 2010 at the New York State Law Enforcement Traffic Safety Challenge awards ceremony April 26, in recognition of the department's effectiveness in officer training, traffic enforcement, public information and education. The New York State Governor's Traffic Safety Committee coordinates the challenge.

Law Enforcement Challenge officials awarded Cornell Police first place for campus police in similar-sized university law enforcement agencies. In addition to the first-place honors, Cornell Police received a new laser-radar unit and a Digital Ally wearable digital video system.

Cornell Police will represent New York state in its division for the National Law Enforcement Challenge competition. Results of the national competition will be announced at the annual International Association of Chiefs of Police conference in Chicago on Oct. 22.
