Interested in serving as a trustee or Employee Assembly member?

Staff members interested in running for a four-year term as employee-elected trustee or for one of seven two-year open seats on the Employee Assembly (EA) can now fill out a candidacy statement online.

The EA consists of 16 members who are involved in the governance of the affairs and life of the university. Working closely with members of the administration, the EA encourages visibility for employees as community members, more equal participation with faculty and students in the policy-making process and an increased sense of community at the university.

Interested candidates should turn their materials in and register online by April 2; voting begins April 16.

The 64-member Cornell University Board of Trustees helps determine major policy directions and have an important role in safeguarding the integrity of the university. Current employee-elected trustee Beth McKinney will vacate her seat June 30; this post has full voting rights.

Those interested in running as employee-elected trustee can contact McKinney at bm20@cornell.edu, 255-3703, attend an informational session March 21 in 305 Day Hall or March 27 in B12 Day Hall, both from 4-5 p.m., or see assembly.cornell.edu/Elections/Home.

Staff members running for the employee-elected trustee post must attend a mandatory education session on April 3 and a campaign meeting on April 6. Both meetings will be held in 163 Day Hall at 4-5 p.m.
