Assemblies Update, Week of Nov. 11

Following are brief reports from the Student Assembly (SA), Graduate and Professional Student Assembly (GPSA), Employee Assembly (EA) and University Assembly (UA). For more information, including meeting agendas, minutes and audio recordings, visit http://assembly.cornell.edu.

Recent meetings:

  • SA: Nov. 7. Updates were provided by the appropriations, dining, community life and communications committees. President David Skorton and Vice President Susan Murphy discussed campus safety, administration responses to campus incidents and the need for late-night staffing at Gannett Health Services. They also discussed Greek system governance and alcohol awareness, the groupmisconduct.cornell.edu website and scholarship availability. Funding for the Cornell Forensics Society, Club Insurance and the Outdoor Odyssey program was approved.
  • UA: Nov. 12. SA, EA, GPSA and Faculty Senate reports were submitted. The campus infrastructure, campus welfare and codes, and judicial committees gave updates. Skorton discussed potential effects of the 2014 federal sequester on students. University Planner Mina Amundsen and Steve Wolf, associate professor in natural resources, presented information on the Cornell Campus Master Plan and upcoming projects such as the Tower Road Streetscape.

  • GPSA: Nov. 18, 5:30 p.m., Bache Auditorium, Malott Hall.
  • EA: Nov. 20, 4:30 p.m., 401 Physical Sciences. Skorton will visit.
  • SA: Nov. 21, 4:45 p.m., Memorial Room, Willard Straight Hall.
