From Jan. 8, 2014, to April 19, 2015, East Avenue will be closed to through traffic from West Avenue to Tower Road due to construction of Klarman Hall. One lane will be open only for buses, bicycles, and emergency and construction vehicles. Lincoln Hall and A.D. White House will remain accessible.

Project flag persons will monitor the detour points at the start of the lane closure to assist in the transition to the new traffic patterns. Cornell Police will enforce the bus- and bike-only traffic rule on the restricted portion of East Avenue.

The closure will affect many university activities such as Cornell Days, Dragon Day, Slope Day, Reunion, Commencement, Homecoming and student moving in and out days.

Klarman Hall, the first new building for the humanities on central campus since Goldwin Smith Hall opened in 1905, will rise between Goldwin Smith and East Avenue. It will provide 33,250 square feet of new space, including a 350-seat auditorium, offices, classrooms and programmable areas.

If you have questions about the Klarman Hall project, call Gary Wilhelm at 607-254-8022. Traffic-related questions should be directed to Transportation Services, 607-255-4600.
