Plan for Slope Day traffic detours

Avoid travel in and around West Campus due to the high volume of pedestrian traffic on Slope Day, Cornell officials advise. West Avenue between Campus Road and University Avenue will be closed from 6 a.m. Thursday, May 8, until 8 a.m. Saturday, May 10. Campus Road between Stewart Avenue and Central Avenue will be closed from noon to 6 p.m. May 8.

Slope Day road closure and detour information is here. Alternative routes Thursday, May 8, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.:

  • To travel from Thurston Avenue to Campus Road, take University Avenue to Stewart Avenue to Buffalo Street to Eddy Street to Dryden Road to Campus Road.
  • To travel from Campus Road to Thurston Avenue, take Campus Road to College Avenue, to Dryden Road to Eddy Street to Buffalo Street to Stewart Avenue to University Avenue.

Also for May 8, TCAT has announced several detours:

  • 

TCAT Route 83 will be detoured Thursday, May 8, as follows: Stewart Avenue to Thurston Avenue, to East Avenue, stopping at Goldwin Smith Hall; then to Tower Road back onto the normal route. Routes 20, 21, 37, 40, 43, 51, 52, 53, 65, 67 will use College Avenue all day on Slope Day.

 Routes 92 and 93 on May 6 and on Slope Day will use Stewart Avenue in both directions instead of using West Avenue.
