The endowed open enrollment deadline for faculty and staff who want to enroll in or change their endowed health and dental plans is Friday, Nov. 17, at 4 p.m. EST.

This deadline also applies to endowed faculty and staff who want a medical care or dependent care flexible savings account (FSA) for 2018. FSA enrollments do not carry over year to year.

If you are happy with your current medical and dental elections, have no changes to your dependents and don’t want to enroll in an FSA in 2018, you need do nothing. You automatically will have the same medical and dental coverage as last year.

About 800 staff and faculty talked with retirement, health, FSA, NYS 529 educational savings plans and fitness vendors from outside Cornell and with representatives from Cornell Wellness, the Faculty and Staff Assistance Program, School of Continuing Education and Summer Sessions, the University Ombudsman’s Office, Cornell Health and Cornell’s HR offices at Benefair, Nov. 7.

All enrollments and changes must be made in Workday. See the new Workday Decision/Enrollment Guide for help in planning health and financial choices and for a step-by-step guide through the open enrollment process. For more information on endowed health and dental benefits, see the 2018 Rate Chart and 2018 Plan Comparison Chart.

Optional legal insurance for endowed and contract college faculty and staff is available by enrolling directly with the vendor through Dec. 31.

The option transfer period for faculty and staff enrolled in contract college health, dental and eye care benefits is Nov. 15 to Dec. 15. Contract college faculty and staff have until Dec. 15 to enroll in a medical care or dependent care FSA.
