Kevin Morrison, assistant professor of government, has been awarded this year's R.O. Keohane Award for his article "Oil, Nontax Revenue and the Redistributional Foundations of Regime Stability." The Keohane Award is given annually by International Organization, one of the top journals in the field of government, for the best research article by an untenured scholar published in the journal.

Morrison's research focuses on political stability and inequality in developing countries, and he has a particular interest in how non-tax revenues such as oil rents and foreign aid affect these outcomes.

This is the second consecutive year a Cornell government department member has won this award: Last year Jessica Weeks, assistant professor of government, received it for her article "Autocratic Audience Costs: Regime Type and Signaling Resolve."
