Architecture professor Christian Otto dies
Christian F. Otto, a professor of architecture in the College of Architecture, Art and Planning, died March 27 following a battle with cancer. He was 72.
A native of New York City, Otto received degrees from Swarthmore College and Columbia University and came to Cornell in 1970 to teach the history of architecture and urbanism. He served on standing department, college and university committees, with a special interest in curriculum and resources; and was a faculty fellow with Campus Life Residential Programs.
Otto continued to teach, write, conduct research and meet with graduate students during his illness. As an architectural historian, his research included 18th-century Central European architecture, New York City and modern architecture and urbanism.
He is survived by his wife, Roberta Moudry '81, M.S. '90, Ph.D. '95; and four children.
