Give reusable items to benefit local charities
By Nancy Doolittle
Household goods, clothing, working appliances and electronics, sporting items, toiletries, nonperishable food and most anything else in decent shape that can be reused will be collected until June 1 to benefit local charities. Furniture donations are especially appreciated. Donations will be sorted over the summer, then sold at the Dump and Run community sale in August in Helen Newman gym.
Dump and Run collection bins can be found in all residence halls, houses and community centers, and some academic buildings. The program will not accept mattresses, pillows, underwear, socks, trash or anything broken.
Dump and Run volunteers are available to pick up donations off campus by e-mailing dumpandrun@cornell.edu with 48 hours notice.
Dump and Run is organized and run by Cornell students with support from Cornell's Department of Campus Life.
Over the last eight years, the program has raised and donated nearly $200,000. Proceeds of this year's Dump and Run sale will benefit Cops, Kids and Toys; Loaves and Fishes; Shelter Outreach Services; Greater Ithaca Activities Center; and the Cornell United Way Student Campaign.
