International Fair showcases world of opportunities
By
Cornell’s world of opportunities is coming to central campus. Students can take a whirlwind tour through the university’s global offerings at this year’s International Fair on Wednesday, Aug. 31, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Uris Hall Terrace.
Undergraduate and graduate students who explore the fair will discover academic opportunities, including area and regional studies, thematic research programs, study abroad, international minors and world languages.
Over 50 languages are offered at Cornell, including rare and distinctive languages like Quechua, which returned to campus last year, and many South and Southeast Asian languages rarely taught at other U.S. universities, such as Urdu and Burmese.
Students will also find global summer internships, the Laidlaw Undergraduate Leadership and Research Program, Fulbright programs, graduate travel grants, support for language study and many other funding opportunities for students at all levels.
Student opportunities at Cornell Global Hubs – new this fall – are featured at this year’s fair. Students can experience Global Hubs through semester and short-term study abroad in seven Hubs locations, field experiences and summer internships.
Applications are currently open for spring semester study abroad, including Global Hubs programs and other programs suitable for all majors. Interested students should explore study abroad programs, talk with an Office of Global Learning advisor at the fair and complete the application by September 15.
The International Fair is hosted by the Mario Einaudi Center for International Studies and Office of Global Learning (both part of Global Cornell) and cosponsored by Cornell's Language Resource Center. Watch a welcome video to learn more about student opportunities at the Einaudi Center.
