‘Chillin’ on the Quad’ event returns for second year

Cornell’s second annual “Chillin’ on the Quad,” a chance for students, staff and faculty to come together and celebrate the conclusion of this year’s Summer Wellbeing Adventure, is set for July 31, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., on the Ag Quad.
The event will feature live music, lawn games, appearances from Cornell Companions and free iced coffee for the first 300 guests. Designed to foster connection and promote health and well-being, Chillin’ on the Quad offers a relaxed, informal opportunity to engage with fellow members of the Cornell community.
“In today’s environment, open and joyful spaces remind us that well-being and connection aren’t luxuries, they are a necessity. Taking time to take a breath together – even just for a moment – can make a world of difference and makes Cornell stronger,” said Amy Layton, work/life program coordinator in the Division of Human Resources.
Organized by the Cornell Health Promoting Campus initiative in collaboration with campus partners, the Summer Wellbeing Adventure is now in its third year. Over the past two weeks, participants have been encouraged to enhance their well-being through on- and off-campus activities designed to spark joy in both work and daily life. Each week of the adventure focuses on one of the university’s Health Promoting Campus themes: people, places and the planet.
This year’s Chillin’ on the Quad will include new elements such as a sound healing session and opportunities to donate school supplies to the Cornell Elves Backpack Program, which provides donated items to local school-aged children.
“From shared laughs and meaningful moments, we hope this celebration leaves everyone with more than just memories. We hope participants take away renewed energy, a greater sense of belonging and the reminder that they are a part of a larger, caring Cornell community,” Layton said.
