Anna Davidson, senior research associate and lecturer in natural resources in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, displayed a canoe covered in messages from people who live in the Mohawk River watershed in The Concourse at the Empire State Plaza in Albany this summer. It is now on display in Mann Gallery.

Mohawk River Project

Anna Davidson, senior research associate and lecturer in natural resources in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, and graduate student Anna Mehlhorn created the art in this exhibit as part of a capstone course they taught that intertwined art, science and culture in the study of the Mohawk River.

Davidson and her students traveled to communities along the watershed soliciting their concerns, hopes, data and other messages about the river. Several of the pieces in the exhibit, including a 15-foot canoe, are covered in messages from these participants.

  • Viewable during the library’s open hours, now through Jan. 26, Mann Gallery, second floor of Mann Library
