Things to do: How to look at art, a mushroom museum, managing holiday stress

The Carl Sagan Institute is hosting a slate of events Friday and Saturday to celebrate what would have been astronomer and planetary scientist Carl Sagan’s 90th birthday, and the Cornell Plant Pathology Herbarium – a “mushroom museum” – is opening its doors for its annual open house on Saturday. Climate change and migration
Journalist, author and filmmaker Abrahm Lustgarten will give a lecture on his new book, “On the Move: The Overheating Earth and the Uprooting of America,” which examines how climate change might drive population shifts in America.

Tour: How to look at art
Dan Schwarz, professor of literatures in English in the College of Arts and Sciences, will give a guided tour of the Johnson Museum’s permanent collections, with an emphasis on how to interpret and appreciate art.

Managing the holidays
The holidays can be joyful but also overwhelming. Letisha Bereola, life and career coach, will offer practical strategies to make the holidays enjoyable in a virtual conversation, Peaceful and Present: Managing the Holiday Season.
