Fifty years to the day that students began an occupation of Willard Straight Hall in protest of racial issues on campus, the Cornell community gathered to reflect on the legacy of the occupation and the people involved.
Frank Dawson ’72 held a public conversation April 18 in Bailey Hall with Harry Edwards, Ph.D. ’73, about social justice and the 36-hour occupation of Willard Straight Hall in 1969.

About 80 Cornell students, faculty, staff and trustees gathered for dinner at the Willard Straight Memorial Room April 17 to recognize recipients of the Perkins Prize and new diversity and inclusion awards.
Events include a screening of “On the Basis of Sex” by Cornell Cinema, a free estate planning clinic, an exhibition of work by a student artist at the Seneca Place office building downtown, a panel discussion as part of the Cornell University Press sesquicentennial celebration, and a “Chats in the Stacks” book talk with English professor Daniel Schwarz.
An idea for $1 rides to campus won one of several student business competitions that took place during Entrepreneurship at Cornell’s Celebration conference April 11-12. The annual event drew more than 700 participants for symposiums, awards and networking.
