Professor Emeritus Edward Eaton dies at 93

Edward O. Eaton, M.S. '50, Ph.D. '52, a professor emeritus who conducted one of the most successful engineering 4-H programs in the Department of Agricultural Engineering's history, enrolling 2.5 million youths in agricultural engineering projects in New York state, died July 11 at age 93 in St. Albans, Vt.
Born in Middlesex, Vt., April 10, 1919, Eaton received a bachelor's degree in agriculture from the University of Vermont in 1941. The following year, he joined the U.S. Air Force and served from 1942 to 1946.
After completing his service, Eaton earned a master's and a doctorate degree, both in agricultural engineering from Cornell. Eaton was hired by the agricultural engineering department (now called the Department of Biological and Environmental Engineering) in 1958 and retired in 1979.
Eaton was a member of the American Society for Agricultural Engineers, Sigma Alpha Epsilon and the Masonic Lodge in Waitsfield, Vt.
Eaton was predeceased by his wife Lois (Hodgkins) Eaton in 1993. He is survived by his two children, their spouses, seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
