Cornell Store remodeling to improve access and ease of use
By Nancy Doolittle

The Cornell Store will undertake a remodeling project, beginning Nov. 12 and lasting through early spring, to refresh the interior of the store. It will remain open to the public through much of the remodeling, with certain areas of the store sectioned off and the entire store closed for limited periods.
The store will remain open, with normal business hours, Nov. 12 through Dec. 15. It will be closed Nov. 10 and again Dec. 16 through Jan. 1, reopening Jan. 2. However, Cornell Store staff will fulfill departmental and online orders Dec. 17-21. Orders placed after noon Dec. 20 will not be processed until the university returns from winter break Jan. 2. Remodeling work will cease Jan. 2 though Feb. 1, so that students can easily shop for spring semester textbooks and course materials.
"We are updating the store to better serve the changing needs of the Cornell community, as well as address maintenance concerns," said Pat Wynn, director of The Cornell Store. "Our inventory will be reorganized so that customers can easily navigate departments and conveniently find textbooks, supplies and technology products. More in-store seating and a full-service café will be added, making the store even more of a hub of activity rather than a walkthrough experience," she said. The store's last remodel was 12 years ago.
Improvements will also be made to the upper-level accessible entrance. Until approximately Nov. 26, patrons will be asked to use the lower-level entrance to the Cornell Store on Ho Plaza for wheelchair and stroller access.
The remodel status Web page will have the latest updates, including announcements of special circumstances such as service interruptions or changes to standard hours of operation.
