About 75 students paraded in Collegetown, Ho Plaza and the Arts Quad after learning the news of Osama Bin Laden's death, reported Blaine Friedlander, assistant director of the Cornell Press Office. The students later sang "The Star-Spangled Banner," "God Bless America" and then collegiate chants.

President Barack Obama announced late Sunday evening that bin Laden, mastermind of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, had been killed by U.S. forces in a firefight in Abbottabad, Pakistan, about an hour's drive from Islamabad. "Justice has been done," Obama declared.
