Dichtel earns 3M award for outstanding research
By Lauren Gold
William Dichtel, assistant professor of chemistry and chemical biology, has a 2010 Nontenured Faculty Award from 3M for outstanding research by a new faculty member. The grant provides $15,000 per year toward research for up to three years.
Dichtel, who joined the Cornell faculty in 2008, uses synthetic and supramolecular chemistry to address fundamental challenges in the assembly and integration of nanostructured materials. Before coming to Cornell, he completed a joint postdoctoral fellowship at the University of California (UC)-Los Angeles and the California Institute of Technology.
Dichtel earned his Ph.D. from UC-Berkeley in 2005 and his bachelor's degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2000.
