Cornell's Johnson School has a new certificate program and partnership with the Guanghua School of Management of Peking University, the leading university in China. Like the Johnson School's partnership with China's Nanjing University, students who enroll in the Peking certificate program through the Guanghua School of Management will come to the Johnson School for a week-long training session.

The agreement includes plans for a biennial joint conference on research on effective management of intercultural interactions and multicultural teams, and an MBA student exchange program.

"Students from Peking will likely be senior executives or government officials, so providing this opportunity for connection with the Johnson School and our students will offer all parties an invaluable chance for networking and global learning," said Ya-Ru Chen, professor of management and global business at the Johnson School.

"The collaboration between the two sides is mutually beneficial," said Zhi-Xue Zhang, professor of organization management at the Guanghua School of Management. "On the one hand, it may expose students from both schools to international perspective, help to develop their global mindset and enhance the intercultural understanding; on the other hand, the alliance will drive the faculty from the two schools to synergize their expertise in their collaborated research projects, which will greatly facilitate the creation of new management knowledge."

Zhang believes that the biennial joint conference will become both a platform for the organization of management scholars in the Asia-Pacific region and a bridge connecting researchers from China and the West.

The Johnson School's ongoing commitment to expanding its global imprint is a primary goal of the school's long-term strategic plan. In addition to its certificate program with Nanjing University in China, its innovative Executive MBA degree program with Canada's Queens University reaches professionals in more than 20 cities in the United States and Canada. Among myriad worldwide locations, the Johnson School also has significant and growing relationships with partners in business and higher education in Colombia, India and the United Arab Emirates.
