Law School celebrates convocation
By Susan Kelley
Cornell Law School's 261 graduates attended their convocation ceremony in Bailey Hall May 10. At right, degree candidates for Master of Laws Bourke Boersma and Tamim Bazzi read the convocation program while waiting to process.
The annual private event was conducted by Stewart J. Schwab, the Allan R. Tessler Dean and Professor of Law. The convocation address was delivered by law professor Steven D. Clymer '80, J.D. '83. Peter Chin Hui Liao, LL.M. '09, spoke on behalf of the LL.M. students, and Quinton D. Lucas '09 spoke on behalf of the J.D. students.
Following the speeches, each graduate was called to the stage to receive Schwab's congratulations on behalf of the Law School and Cornell. A champagne reception was held immediately following the ceremony in the Myron Taylor Hall Courtyard.
The graduates will officially receive their degrees at the university's commencement May 24. The law degrees conferred at that time will be: Master of Laws; Doctor of Law; Juris Doctor; and combined degrees in International and Comparative Law, Global Business Law, and German and European Law and Legal Practice.
