Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education Laura Brown has announced 10 winners of the 2009 New Student Reading Project essay contest. Incoming freshmen and new transfer students received a list of study questions over the summer along with a copy of this year's book -- John Steinbeck's "The Grapes of Wrath"-- and were asked to write a short response to one of the questions.

Winners each receive $200 worth of books from the Cornell Store and have their essays published on the Reading Project Web site (http://reading.cornell.edu).
