David Herman to receive materials science award

The Minerals, Metals and Materials Society (TMS) has awarded undergraduate David Herman '07 the J. Keith Brimacombe Presidential Scholarship Award. The award is given to an undergraduate student majoring in metallurgical and/or materials science and engineering.

Selection for the scholarship is based on outstanding academic accomplishments and leadership. Herman, who is a senior studying materials science and engineering, is to receive the award during the society's annual meeting, Feb. 25-March 1, in Orlando, Fla.

TMS is a professional organization with membership from more than 70 countries. It encompasses the entire range of materials and engineering, from minerals processing and primary metals production to basic research and the advanced applications of materials.
