Jurriaan Gerretsen named CCMR associate director

The Cornell Center for Materials Research (CCMR) recently named Jurriaan Gerretsen as new associate director. Gerretsen also serves as associate director of the Center for Nanoscale Systems.

Prior to joining the Cornell faculty in 2003, Gerretsen worked six years for Corning Inc. and held various management positions throughout the company, including strategic growth, external technologies and innovation management in the Division of Science and Technology, and manager of surface and interface technology in the Corning Fontainebleau Research Center in France.

Before Corning, Gerretsen worked for eight years in an independent contract research organization, leading projects for Dutch and European industry. He holds two master's degrees from Utrecht University in the Netherlands and a doctoral degree from Australian National University.

"I am looking forward to offering my technical and scientific knowledge and broad leadership experience to the CCMR, and to contributing to the reinvigoration of its longstanding reputation of excellence in materials research science and engineering," Gerretsen said.
