Cornell students, including members of fraternity and sorority councils, and Collegetown residents will clean up the streets of Collegetown this Saturday, Nov. 1. Activities include cleaning neighborhood sidewalks, streets, utility poles, and open spaces.

Volunteers will gather at various times, beginning at 11 a.m., in front of The Nines restaurant on College Avenue. From there, teams of students and year-round residents will begin their clean-up effort.

Leading the campaign to get students involved are students Charlotte Simpson of Pi Beta Phi sorority, vice president of the Panhellenic Council, and Josh Brill of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity, vice president of the Interfraternity Council at Cornell.

Additional support is being provided by several Collegetown businesses, the City of Ithaca's Department of Public Works, and two Cornell offices -- the Dean of Students and Community Relations.

Participation in this event is open to all interested members of the community. Volunteers need not sign up in advance, although representatives of the Panhellenic and Interfraternity councils are coordinating fraternity and sorority participation.
