Cornell Police to increase enforcement for Homecoming, Oct. 12-14
By Linda Grace-Kobas
In order to help ensure a safe Homecoming for all, Cornell University Police will increase enforcement activities to target alcohol-impaired drivers during the weekend's events, Oct. 12-14.
The enhanced enforcement is part of a national campaign by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to reduce the number of fatalities caused by impaired driving. The program is called "You Drink & Drive. You Lose."
"We're asking individuals within the Cornell community to continue to support law enforcement efforts and do their part in stopping friends or relatives from driving while impaired," said Sgt. Charles Howard, coordinator of traffic enforcement activities. He urges people who attend activities to choose a designated driver or, if they drink alcohol, take a taxi cab home or stay where they are. Above all, don't drink and drive.
