The fourth annual “One Funny Ithaca Story” will be held Sunday, March 11, 2-3:30 p.m. at The Space at GreenStar, 700 W. Buffalo St., Ithaca.

Billed as a “comic tribute to everything Ithaca stands (and sits) for,” this edition of the show will include – for the first time – stand-up comedy with town-gown relations as the topic, featuring Joel Malina, Cornell vice president for university relations, and Martha Robertson, chair of the Tompkins County Legislature.

Also scheduled to appear: Michelle Courtney Berry, Nagiane Lacka, Leslyn McBean-Clairborne, Chet Osadchey ’88, Mark Rust, Camila Schade, Kenneth McLaurin, The Friday Noon Group, and Rick Manning & Friends. The emcee will be Gary Stewart, Cornell associate vice president for community relations and two-term Cancer Resource Center of the Finger Lakes (CRC) board member.

“One Funny Ithaca Story” celebrates and benefits the CRC, an Ithaca-based nonprofit that has given 23 years of community service to area patients, caregivers and families, assisted in part by several campus partnerships. Among these are free bus rides for cancer patients being treated in New York City; programs that connect Cancer Resource Center clients and Cornell doctoral students engaged in cancer research; and seminars led by students about current topics in cancer research. These presentations are in lay language and attendees ask questions that clarify basic concepts.
