The Buffalo Co-Lab at Cornell University’s ILR School has received a $1 million donation to fund its High Road Buffalo Fellowship program for the next five years. The generous gift from James “Jim” E. Miller ’88 and his partner at Miller Shah LLP, James C. Shah, will support the entire program, and the majority of the funding will subsidize fellows’ salaries. 

Launched in 2009, the High Road Buffalo program connects more than 20 Cornell students each summer with community groups and local leaders working to advance high-road principles of uplifting workers, promoting sustainability and resiliency, and fostering equity, justice and democracy. 

“I’m thankful in many ways for Jim Miller,” says Cathy Creighton ’87, executive director of the Buffalo Co-Lab. “His commitment to ILR students has been extraordinary throughout his career, and this is just the latest example of his generosity and love for the ILR School.”

“This gift will allow the High Road Buffalo program to continue providing much-needed assistance to community groups, while providing valuable engaged learning opportunities for Cornell students to work with local groups, labor unions and organizations committed to revitalizing the city of Buffalo.”
