Cornell 's statutory colleges hold Open House Oct. 19 and Transfer Day Nov. 1

Cornell's statutory colleges will hold two special events this fall: Open House and Transfer Day. Young people interested in learning about undergraduate admission to three state-assisted colleges at Cornell are encouraged to attend.

Open House , Saturday, Oct. 19: This event provides high school juniors and seniors, as well as their parents, the opportunity to visit the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, the College of Human Ecology and the School of Industrial and Labor Relations. Visitors will receive an overview of Cornell and the academic programs in the three colleges. High school students and their parents are invited to campus to meet admissions staff, faculty and current Cornell students. The program will include admissions and financial aid information. Transfer DayFriday, Nov. 1: College students interested in continuing their education at Cornell should consider visiting on Transfer Day. The statutory colleges will discuss general academic information and transfer admissions policies. Students may attend a class, meet with faculty members, join currently enrolled students for lunch and talk with admissions representatives.

Many programs are available in these statutory units. In the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, students can select from agricultural and biological engineering; animal sciences; applied economics and business management; biological sciences; communication; education; entomology; food science; landscape architecture; natural resources; nutrition; food and agriculture; plant sciences; rural sociology; soil, crop, and atmospheric sciences; biometry and statistics and special agricultural programs.

In the College of Human Ecology, areas of study include apparel design; apparel and textile management; biology and society; consumer economics; housing; human development and family studies; interior design; nutritional sciences; policy analysis; and textiles.

The School of Industrial and Labor Relations offers programs in personnel and human resource management; economics and social statistics; labor economics; organizational behavior; international and comparative labor relations; collective bargaining; labor law; and labor movement.

Students interested in attending either Open House or Transfer Day are required to pre-register. Registration forms are available from high school guidance counselors, two-year college counseling offices, or from the Statutory Colleges of Cornell. Registration will be accepted through Oct. 11 for Open House and Oct. 23 for Transfer Day. A $5 non-refundable registration fee will be charged for Transfer Day. There is no charge for Open House.

Registration information for Open House is being mailed to guidance departments in all New York high schools. Transfer Day information is being mailed to all two-year colleges in New York.
