By Simeon Moss
The Cornell University section of the American Chemical Society is celebrating National Chemistry Week -- the first week in November -- by helping to enhance the public's awareness of the contributions of chemistry to society and our everyday lives.
To mark the 10th anniversary of National Chemistry Week, the Cornell section will hold a series of demonstrations and hands-on activities at Pyramid Mall in Lansing on Saturday, Nov. 2.
There will be activities for people of all ages and lots of give-aways. Students and faculty from Cornell and Ithaca College will be on hand to demonstrate and conduct the activities from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Shoppers will be able to learn, for instance, a secret of the Alaskan pipeline, see what a cabbage can tell them, melt Styrofoam, observe phenomenan of superconductivity, see how fabrics are made stain-resistant and much more.
The public is invited to come out to Pyramid Mall on Nov. 2 and see just how chemistry impacts every area of their lives.
