Francis A. Kallfelz is named James Law Professor at Cornell College of Veterinary Medicine

Francis A. Kallfelz, D.V.M., has been appointed a James Law Professor of Medicine at the Cornell College of Veterinary Medicine. His appointment was approved by the Cornell Board of Trustees at its March meeting.
A member of the college faculty since 1966 and director of the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital since 1991, Kallfelz conducts research in the areas of clinical nutrition, mineral metabolism, metabolic diseases of domestic animals and veterinary nuclear medicine. He earned the veterinary degree, with distinction in (1962), and doctoral degree in physical biology in 1966, both from Cornell University.
Kallfelz is a Diplomate and past-president (1988-89) of the American College of Veterinary Nutrition, as well as past-president (1982-83) of the American Academy of Veterinary Nutrition. Since 1990 he has served on the Canine Nutrition Experts Committee and Feline Nutrition Experts Committee of the Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO). Kallfelz is the author or co-author of more than 150 scientific publications in his research fields, as well as a frequent contributor to the popular companion-animal press.
With the appointment, effective April 1, 1997, Kallfelz becomes one of six James Law Professors at Cornell. The professorships are named for the first professor of veterinary medicine at Cornell, and in the United States.
