Collegetown cleanup by residents and students set for April 19
By Josh Brill
Cornell students, including members of fraternities and sororities, and Collegetown residents will clean up the streets of Collegetown on Saturday, April 19. Activities will include cleaning neighborhood sidewalks, streets, utility poles and open spaces.
Volunteers will gather at various times beginning at 10 a.m. in front of Collegetown Motor Lodge, 312 College Ave. From there, teams of students and year-round residents will begin their clean-up effort.
Leading the campaign to get students involved are Charlotte Simpson of Pi Beta Phi sorority, vice president of the Panhellenic Council, and Josh Brill of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity, vice president of the Interfraternity Council at Cornell.
Additional support is being provided by the Collegetown Motor Lodge, Collegetown businesses, the City of Ithaca's Department of Public Works and two Cornell offices -- the Dean of Students and Community Relations.
Participation in this event is open to all interested members of the community.
